From Seed Exchange to Community Seed Banks: the Experience of Okvir Života at the Let’s Liberate Diversity Forum 2026

At the LLD Forum (Let’s Liberate Diversity) in Florence, BILIM Alliance members from the Balkan region presented inspiring examples of on-farm agrobiodiversity conservation and farmer-led seed initiatives.

In this presentation, Okvir Života (Serbia) shares its recent work on preserving traditional varieties, strengthening seed sovereignty, and building local networks for the conservation of plant genetic resources. The presentation highlights seed exchange events, educational programmes, the establishment of local seed banks, cooperation with agricultural schools and researchers, and the creation of a national network dedicated to agrobiodiversity conservation.

The experience of Okvir Života demonstrates how agroecology can bring together farmers, schools, scientists, public institutions and local communities to protect agricultural biodiversity while creating new opportunities for learning, cooperation and rural development.

We invite you to explore the presentation and discover how community-based action can contribute to the preservation and future development of farmers’ seeds and traditional varieties in the Balkans. Open the presentation.
